Southern Thailand faces heavy rain through October 28 as TMD issues a fresh advisory
The Thai Meteorological Department issued advisory No. 8 (280/2026) at 5am on October 27. It forecasts persistent southern rain, with scattered heavy and isolated very heavy falls through October 28. Accumulated rain could cause flash floods, overflowing waterways and landslides, particularly near foothills and lowlands.
Rainfall across upper Thailand is expected to decrease on October 27, although thunderstorms, gusts and isolated heavy rain remain possible. People should avoid exposed outdoor areas, large trees and unstable advertising structures during storms.
The department links these conditions to high pressure extending from China, easterly winds and a strengthening southern monsoon trough. Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf may exceed two metres in thunderstorms. Vessels should proceed cautiously and avoid storm cells.
This report reflects the morning advisory rather than a prediction of flooding at every location. The satellite and radar images show observations at different times. Check subsequent TMD announcements and local warnings before travelling or going to sea.
