Tether names 15 industry participants backing interoperable Bitcoin mining tools
Tether said on 24 October 2026 that 15 Bitcoin mining operators, ASIC manufacturers and mining pools had committed to developing integrations with its Mining Development Kit, or MDK. The aim is to let infrastructure from different vendors communicate through a shared software layer.
The announced participants include Bitdeer, BITMAIN, Canaan, MicroBT, Foundry Digital, Luxor and Stratum V2. Each participant is to build and maintain its own Worker integration, rather than being required to replace its equipment or hand over control of its systems.
The initiative extends MDK’s launch as open-source infrastructure for monitoring and automation tools. A shared interface could reduce separate integration work for different vendors. Announced commitments, however, do not demonstrate that every integration is already fully operational.
Tether targets a stable MDK 1.0 release by the end of 2026; that remains a future goal. Management software does not guarantee profitable mining. Electricity costs, network difficulty, asset prices and system security remain relevant risks.
