World Space Week 2026

World Space Week 2026
World Space Week 2026 runs from October 4 to 10, bringing together schools, universities, space agencies and communities for activities about science, technology and the benefits of space.
The United Nations-recognized observance marks two milestones: the launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957, and the entry into force of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967.
Space technology is part of daily life. Satellite data supports weather forecasting, flood and wildfire monitoring, navigation, communications, agriculture and disaster response.
The week also introduces young people to STEM careers ranging from satellite engineering and data analysis to space law and public policy.
Readers can check the World Space Week calendar and local science organizations for events, confirming schedules and access arrangements with organizers.
