Tether and Shiga Plan Self-Custody Wallet Services for Africa and the GCC
Tether said on 28 September 2026 that it is working with Shiga to build self-custodial digital asset products for individuals, businesses and institutions in African and Gulf Cooperation Council markets. The planned services will use Tether’s open-source Wallet Development Kit and are designed to support USDT, Bitcoin and Tether Gold.
Tether describes ENTA as a product through which users and businesses could fund wallets and hold or transfer digital assets. Pulse is intended as infrastructure for banks and fintech companies to create services tailored to specific payment corridors and treasury needs. The company says Shiga is still completing a digital asset intermediary licensing process in Nigeria, so readers should not assume regulatory approval or broad commercial availability has already been granted.
