Guanyin’s lunar observance and individual temple ceremony dates are different
Guanyin’s 2026 renunciation observance should be distinguished from the date a particular temple chooses for its ceremony. Poh Ern Shih in Singapore lists 28 October 2026 as the nineteenth day of the ninth lunar month. A social-media date of 25 October should therefore not be presented as a universal calendar date.
Chuang Yen Monastery in New York separately schedules its commemorative ceremony for 25 October, from 10:00 to 12:15 local time. This is a real organiser announcement, but it does not change the calendar date or establish a Thai temple’s programme.
People wishing to observe the occasion can study teachings, act kindly and make offerings within their means. Check the specific temple’s date and time, because local programmes differ; buying expensive religious objects is not a prerequisite.
Beliefs about blessings, auspiciousness or lucky numbers are personal beliefs. There is no established evidence that the observance increases lottery or gambling success.
