English Version: Coinbase Traces EvilTokens Phishing Revenue on Tron as Takedown Disrupts Sites
Coinbase said on 22 September 2026 that it helped investigators disrupt EvilTokens, a phishing service used to compromise email accounts and manipulate business payments. According to the company, some customers were persuaded to send cryptocurrency to scammers, while Coinbase accounts and credentials themselves were not breached.
The scheme used fraudulent device-code requests. Victims could be directed to a genuine sign-in page yet unwittingly authorize an attacker’s session. Enter a code only for a sign-in process you initiated, and confirm any changed payment instructions through a trusted contact channel.
Coinbase says its team traced approximately $1.1 million in service revenue through four Tron addresses between October 2025 and June 2026. The broader effort seized 50 websites and disabled more than 175 domains. Police arrested suspects on 11 September 2026; an arrest does not establish guilt.
