Thailand narrowly missed the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup title after drawing 2–2 with Indonesia through extra time before losing the penalty shootout 4–2.
Thailand recovered from a deficit and played with ten men, yet still forced the match to penalties. Sarach Yooyen struck the post before Indonesia’s goalkeeper made a decisive save.
Although Thailand finished runners-up, the final demonstrated resilience and competitive spirit. Indonesia became the inaugural champion, according to the Asian Football Confederation.
