Tether Says Iran-Linked USDT Freezes Near $550 Million in 2026
Tether said on September 28 that cooperation with U.S. authorities had supported the freezing of about $550 million in USDT held in wallets identified as connected to Iran’s central bank and sanctions-evasion networks during 2026.
The company highlighted more than $344 million frozen in April and over $130 million in July. The cases demonstrate that centrally issued stablecoins can be frozen by the issuer when credible law-enforcement information is provided.
