Given the vast amount of loot in Diablo IV, it's inevitable that some items will be odder than others. One player may have just discovered one of the strangest drops in the game. Blizzard's massive action RPG has measures in place to ensure Legendary items are the most desirable due to their powerful effects. While Legendary items are more common in Diablo IV than in previous games, they remain essential for building a strong character.

Reddit user FR0ZENBERG posted a screenshot of what they call a "Legendary Rare" item. This piece of Sacred Rare Chest Armor boasts a Legendary effect, making it an unusual find.

This strange bug, likely a glitch in Diablo IV's UI, was validated by FR0ZENBERG who also shared a video of the item in action. Even more bizarre is the item's damage reduction affix, which shouldn't appear on Rare or even Legendary items.

Despite the excitement around what many players are calling the rarest item in Diablo IV, there's much speculation about how it came to be since a "Legendary Rare" shouldn't exist. While it might just be a visual bug, the fact that the Legendary effect works suggests the UI is correct. FR0ZENBERG mentioned acquiring the chest piece as a quest reward, but this doesn't clarify the mix-up.

It's unfortunate that loot is locked to a player's profile in Diablo IV, as FR0ZENBERG could have sold this unique item for a significant amount. Nevertheless, it's worth keeping as a memento, even if the chest piece's stats aren't particularly special. As a fun item to show off, a "Legendary Rare" is hard to beat.

It remains to be seen if this "Legendary Rare" item will be patched out in Diablo IV's next major content update, which kicks off Season 5 on August 6. The new chapter will include an Eternal Questline titled "The Eyes of the Enemy," promising to shake up alliances across Sanctuary. It will also introduce Infernal Hordes, a new game mode featuring some of the game's most challenging battles yet.
